Role Summary
Data is the core of Reward’s business, and the Data Analyst role sits within Reward’s Data & Insight Team—a dynamic and data‑rich environment. We work with millions of consumers, analysing billions of purchase payments.
As a Data Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering commercial, operational, and financial insights that drive Reward’s commercial objectives.
This role has a special focus on developing, enhancing and scaling Reward’s Power BI reporting and analytics products. You will be responsible for building high‑quality dashboards, streamlining reporting processes, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders to turn complex data into intuitive, impactful insight products.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their insight needs and translate them into effective reporting or analytical solutions.
* Analyse large datasets to deliver actionable insights for internal teams or senior executives at client organisations.
* Perform hands‑on analytical work, including database querying, report building, and end‑to‑end dashboard development in Power BI (data modelling, DAX, visualisation).
* Prepare written reports and presentation decks to communicate analysis findings in a concise, visually engaging manner.
* Present analysis results to internal stakeholders and, occasionally, to external clients.
* Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and quality of the Insight team’s processes through streamlining and automation.
* Contribute to the development of new tools, measurement techniques, and Power BI Products for the Insight team.
* Proactively identify opportunities to leverage Reward’s data to support commercial performance and drive revenue growth.
Functional Specialisms
Depending on your role, you may focus on one or more functional areas. The expectation is that while you will be assigned to a specific area, you may contribute to others as business needs evolve.
* Customer Engagement (Bank Programmes): Understand the short‑and‑long‑term goals of bank loyalty programmes. Provide proactive insights and regular reporting to support client presentations and performance reviews.
* Marketing Services: Collaborate with the Marketing Services department to plan and evaluate direct marketing campaigns. Support the marketing team in measuring and optimising campaign effectiveness.
* Commerce Media (Retail): Deliver sector analysis, competitor and share‑of‑wallet insights, and thought leadership tailored to senior retail marketers. Provide market and competitor analysis, campaign proposals, and results for card‑linked offer campaigns.
Analyst Specialisms
Depending on your role, you may also contribute to Reward in the following ways. While you will have a specific specialism, your activities may encompass various areas of focus.
* Insight Analyst: Stay informed about banking loyalty, commerce media, and customer loyalty topics. Become a trusted advisor to stakeholders by delivering insights that support commercial goals.
* Product Analyst: Collaborate with internal teams (Product, Marketing, Technology) to support the implementation of new programmes, product features, and customer journeys.
* Reporting Analyst: Design and develop Insight Dashboards, utilising Python and other tools to meet complex analytical needs. Streamline and improve existing reports.
Requirements
* Power BI expertise: Demonstrable experience in developing dashboards, data models, DAX, and Power BI Service administration.
* Power BI certification (e.g., PL‑300: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst) – required or a commitment to obtain within the first 3 months.
* At least 2‑4 years of experience in a commercial environment, working with customer and transactional data to deliver analysis and insights, ideally in sectors such as financial services, loyalty, retail, or telecoms.
* Strong logical reasoning skills, with the ability to draw conclusions from complex data.
* Proficiency in SQL for data access and summarisation from relational databases.
* Experience or willingness to develop deeper skills in at least one statistical language (e.g., Python, R).
* Knowledge of Power BI (highly desirable) for developing insights and creating reports & dashboards.
* Exposure to other analytics tools (desirable), such as Alteryx, Tableau or AWS solutions (SageMaker, Glue, Athena, Data Lake).
* Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and advanced charting techniques.
* Understanding of core statistical concepts (e.g., probability, randomness, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals) and exposure to customer segmentation and propensity modelling (ideal but not mandatory).
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into simple, compelling stories for stakeholders and clients.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, deal‑driven environment.
* Likely educated to degree level in a numerate discipline such as applied statistics, data science, engineering, operations research or economics.
* Experience in managing internal stakeholders and meeting tight deadlines.
