Role Overview
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will contribute to projects that significantly impact our environment and communities. You’ll work primarily in the UK water market, leading mechanical design from concept to commissioning for water and wastewater infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Lead the mechanical design of water and wastewater infrastructure and non‑infrastructure projects through outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover. This includes P&IDs, valve schedules, pump calculations, safe access, lifting arrangements and above‑ground pipework layouts.
* Coordinate with Electrical, Civil, Geotech and Process designers to ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget, and to the quality defined by framework specifications.
* Work closely with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages and construction.
* Engage positively with clients, managing relationships and adopting a one‑team approach to supporting their aims.
* Support the development of the mechanical engineering team, coaching and mentoring engineers and identifying the correct resources for projects.
Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* Chartered or incorporated member of a professional institution (e.g. ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
* Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
* Methodical approach to problem solving.
* Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region.
* Water/wastewater experience required.
