Deputy Manager – EBD Childrens Residential Home Location: Birmingham Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 Job Type: Full-time, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the leadership and operations of our childrens residential home for young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This role is crucial in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment, ensuring that our residents have the best possible conditions to thrive. Day-to-day of the role: Assist the Registered Manager in overseeing the homes management, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations and maintaining high quality standards. Lead, mentor, and support a team of Residential Support Workers, fostering a professional, empathetic, and resilient workplace culture. Manage care planning, risk assessments, and safeguarding protocols to uphold exceptional standards of child protection. Facilitate staff development through regular supervision, targeted training, and performance evaluations. Serve as a role model in delivering trauma-informed care and effective behaviour support strategies. Organise staff rotas and shift coverage to ensure consistent and continuous care. Coordinate with external professionals such as social workers, educationalists, and healthcare providers. Assume responsibility for the home during the Registered Managers absence, ensuring smooth operations and continuity of care. Required Skills & Qualifications: A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a residential childcare setting, ideally with a focus on EBD. Proven leadership and team management capabilities. Comprehensive understanding of safeguarding, child development, and trauma-informed practices. Strong skills in communication, organisation, and decision-making. Ability to maintain composure and focus in high-pressure situations. Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (essential). Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it). Enhanced DBS check (required prior to employment). Full UK driving licence (preferred).
