London Gatwick is looking for a Senior Project Manager to deliver large-scale Civil Engineering infrastructure projects across the Airfield and Civils programme. Working in a live operational environment, each day brings unique challenges and achievements. As a Senior Project Manager at London Gatwick, you'll lead strategic construction projects from conception through execution and closeout. We have a growing portfolio of projects on the Airfield, ranging from £20 to £150m, including projects for Runways, taxiways, roads, and upgrading air traffic control systems.
You will support the Programme Director and team to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget to the highest standards. You'll have the opportunity to lead the full project lifecycle on impactful projects in a live environment and shape the future of one of the world's busiest airports. What is the role?
Reporting to the Programme Director, you'll be responsible for guiding complex projects through various stages, from design and procurement to construction and delivery. You will focus on high-quality results, ensuring successful project handover, and contribute significantly to the airport's operational and business goals.
What are we looking for?
The live environment at London Gatwick requires all teams to have a flexible, adaptable approach, with strong problem-solving skills and an innovative outlook.
In addition, this role requires:
* Significant experience as a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager, leading infrastructure projects in a live operational environment. Experience handling projects or multi-year programs over £20 million, ideally in industries like highways, airfields, rail, or nuclear.
* Experience leading teams of 10 or more people.
* Demonstrable experience communicating with diverse stakeholders, managing conflicting priorities, and explaining project progress clearly.
* Proven leadership, influencing skills, and the ability to motivate, coach, facilitate, and create learning opportunities for others.
* A qualification in Project Management (e.g., APM PMQ) and a degree in Civil Engineering or Construction is desirable.
