Senior Quantity Surveyor - Major Infrastructure Scheme (West Midlands)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering a significant transport regeneration project in Birmingham (not HS2!). Role Overview
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will take full commercial ownership of a high-profile infrastructure project, overseeing all financial, contractual, and procurement functions. The position demands an individual capable of managing NEC4 Option C contracts and driving strong commercial outcomes within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the commercial management of the project, ensuring adherence to programme and financial objectives.
Administer NEC4 Option C contracts, including valuations, cost forecasting, and change control.
Develop and implement value engineering and procurement strategies to enhance efficiency and profitability.
Manage subcontractor relationships, ensuring performance, compliance, and alignment with contractual obligations.
Prepare detailed financial reports, forecasts, and risk assessments for senior management.
Provide leadership, mentoring, and commercial guidance to the surveying team.
Support the strategic delivery of the project through close collaboration with project managers and engineers.
Essential Requirements
Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering or infrastructure.
Strong command of NEC4 Option C contract management.
Demonstrable success managing subcontractor packages and budgets.
Advanced skills in cost reporting, forecasting, and financial control.
Commercial acumen, negotiation capability, and effective communication with stakeholders.
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
Desirable
Professional accreditation (MRICS or MCIOB).
Prior involvement in transport, infrastructure, or regeneration projects.
