An established manufacturing company in Bristol is looking for a skilled CNC Miller – Setter-Operator to join their production team. The successful candidate will set up and operate 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce high-quality components from a variety of materials. Hours: 7:30 – 16:00 Mon–Thu | 7:30 – 12:30 Fri
Key Responsibilities:
* Set up and operate CNC milling machines using Heidenhain controls.
* Produce complex components to drawing and process specifications.
* Select, install, and maintain cutting tools, tool holders, and fixtures.
* Set work offsets using probes or manually with wobble bar/DTI clock.
* Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to maintain quality.
* Ensure production meets planned set/run times and quality standards.
* Maintain accurate production records, including setup sheets, tool lists, and kits.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S and process optimization.
* Communicate production issues and attend SQDCP meetings.
Skills and Experience Required:
* Experience operating CNC machines, ideally with Heidenhain controls.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Knowledge of CNC programming and machining techniques.
* Competent in using inspection equipment, such as micrometers, verniers, and plug gauges.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Proven ability to produce components efficiently and to tight tolerances.
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a similar CNC setter/operator role.
* Aerospace industry experience.
