Electrical Control and Instrumentation Systems Engineer

Derby, Onsite with flexible working (In office 3 days a week, WFH 2 days a week)
Multiple exciting opportunities have arisen for an Electrical Control and Instrumentation Systems Engineer to work on the new Submarine EC&I, Dreadnought, and SSNA projects.
The EC&I Sub-system teams are responsible for the end-to-end design of reactor C&I, integration, commissioning, power systems control, and sensors. The lifecycle of design work ranges from product concept, detailed design, V&V, production, build, and commissioning support. Opportunities are available in various areas of the Sub-systems department, and successful candidates will be aligned to their strengths.
The Sub-systems department interfaces with several internal and external teams, such as supply chain support and manufacturing engineering support (IPT). Support is provided to the Barrow site office and the shipbuilder through build and commissioning documentation and issue resolution. The department's work supports both the Dreadnought and SSNA programmes.

What you will be doing
You will be responsible for designing C&I, power systems control, and sensors that support, monitor, and protect the reactor plant. You will also be involved in integrating various sub-systems, defining commissioning strategies/documentation, and supporting external teams and vendors.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Specifying product-level requirements and working with vendors to ensure these are met
* Verifying the final product against original design requirements
* Managing requirements with traceability through product maturity gates
* Reviewing and approving design intent documentation
* Supporting build and commissioning issue resolution/documentation

Essential qualifications and experience include:
* A degree or equivalent in electrical and electronics systems engineering
* Membership in a related professional engineering institution (e.g., The IET)
* Experience in architecture design and V&V, including requirements capture and analysis
* Background in power/control electronics, sensor design, or systems engineering
Preferred additional skills:
* Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS)
* Proactive, autonomous individual capable of working across supply chains and disciplines
* Knowledge of NSRP electrical systems
