We are a busy fast-growing poultry manufacturing company that requires a QA Manager to support our team. You will be reliable, hardworking, have excellent customer service and communication skills and a good attention to detail.
Job Purpose:
* To implement and monitor the Company Quality System ensuring that they satisfy all relevant UK/EU food processing regulations and the BRC Global Technical Standard.
* Liaise with external authorities (Meat Hygiene Service, FSA, Red Tractor), supplier and customer technical and quality personnel.
* To complete appropriate documentation for product design and development, to ensure work instructions and specifications are in place.
* To divide time spent within the factory and in the office to a 50/50 time frame
* Will deputise for the Technical Manager as required.
* Ensure Micro and Chemical criteria are met for new and existing products.
Accountabilities:
* To ensure product safety, legality, authenticity and quality through the Quality System procedures.
* To ensure compliance of company Quality System documentation.
* To monitor adherence to the CCPs stipulated in the company HACCPs and fulfilment of the controls described in the Quality Manual pre-requisites.
Job Responsibilities:
* Maintain accuracy and compliance to BRC and Customer Requirements, and communicate and update relevant parts of the quality manuals to relevant staff.
* Ensure that HACCP principles are implemented, reviewed, and documented in accordance with BRC standard
* To conduct Line Start Up Checks at the beginning of the day
* Observe Health & Safety standards in line with company Health & Safety Policy and monitor production staff to ensure compliance with company Hygiene Rules.
* Contribute to adding minutes for the monthly PAR & QMR Meetings reporting any food-safety, legality, authenticity or quality issues and carry out corrective actions as agreed.
* Conduct Site Fabric & Hygiene Inspections, Glass & Plastic audits and Internal audits according to the procedures and schedules in the Quality Manual.
* Complete annual evaluations for all suppliers
* To train staff against quality documents (Work Instructions, Procedures, Forms), and to make sure staff are fully aware of the named documents prior to signing the individuals off
* Deliver on job quality assurance, culture and hygiene training to members of staff on the shop floor
* To liaise with department managers regarding specific job training, making sure staff are appropriately trained and signed of by the department manager
* To train staff against quality documents such as CCP, Temperature and weight checks, and internal quality policies, procedures work instructions and
* Ensure recipes have been adhered to and traceability of materials is maintained.
* Ensure factory scales and thermometers are accurate and calibrated annually both internally and externally.
* Ensure daily temperature checking of all chillers and freezers
* Ensure all factory product and water sampling is carried out according to relevant meat hygiene standards.
* To conduct full monthly CCP validation training for all appropriate staff
* To complete customer nutritional requests
* To manage and train QA’s to a good Quality Standard, making sure the QA is aware and understands their job role. Offering support to the QA’s through their shift
* Communicate all non-conformances to departmental supervisors and managers and document all corrective actions taken.
* Design, amend and issue, controlled Quality System procedures, work instructions and specifications (raw material and finished product), as necessary.
* Confirm any new packaging materials used for proposed new product developments conforms with relevant food safety legislation.
* Ensure that product design/development process shall be documented and communicated throughout the organisation and ensure that changes in formula are adequately assessed for safety and legality.
* To complete Concessions as required, and liaise through to appropriate departments.
* To complete supplier NC’s and communicate and follow up on corrective actions, making sure target dates are met, and responses are sent to appropriate staff.
* To lead with product placed On-Hold when required, and follow actions through, to liaise with appropriate departments.
* COSHH assessments and approval.
* Laise and support the Engineering Manager regarding, PPM and signing off completed engineering jobs.
* Assist Technical Manager in the investigation of customer/consumer complaints, finding the root course, corrective action and preventative action.
Skills & Experience:
* Relevant experience in a food related environment is desirable.
* Knowledge of relevant food safety laws and regulations, such as HACCP and food hygiene.
* Understanding of BRC standards and other quality management systems.
* A drive to achieve quality goals and motivate others
* Ability to motivate and lead a team of QA.
* Ability to diagnose and resolve quality issues efficiently.
* Must be computer literate.
* Excellent attention to detail & time management skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Positive attitude.
