Job details
Would you like to make a positive difference to a young individual's lives?
Are you an experienced counsellor with BACP professional body membership who has the skills to build a good relationship with university students diagnosed with mental health conditions?
We are currently recruiting a counsellor to work at a university in the South East region. This would be a full time role with a view to work 3 days on campus and 2 days remote, initially for an 8 week period but this could potentially be extended. There can be some flexibility with the on site/ remote ratio and the number of hours worked per week for the correct candidate.
You would be required to adopt a 'one session' approach to help reduce the university waitlist and to provide short-term based interventions to encourage students on their path of self development and find solutions to manage their anxieties and stresses.
Benefits:
1. £25-26 per hour
2. 28 holiday pay pro rata - approx. £3.37 on top of your hourly salary - perfect for the summer holidays and Christmas breaks
3. Counselling sessions expected to be 5 days per week, with 5 one hour sessions per day (with some variation based on your availability)
4. Opportunity to provide other support roles such as a Specialist Mental Health Mentor - both remote and face to face opportunities
Responsibilities
5. Provide therapeutic counselling support to students experiencing emotional and mental health issues based on their own unique needs.
6. Working 1:1 on certain issues such as transition, anxiety, self help, self-esteem, eating distress, procrastination and exam panic.
7. Empathising with the students over their personal and emotional needs while working alongside with the student to promote self help, using self help tools.
8. Following risk assessment and safeguarding escalation processes stated by both Randstad and the university the student attends
9. Maintaining a confidential approach at all times when working with the students or discussing any information with any other members of staff. Meeting all GDPR requirements
Requirements
10. Membership of BACP or UKCP
11. Monthly clinical supervision in order to maintain your professional standards
Desirable
12. Keeping up to date with developments in your area of practice and contributing to improvements of operations in the team.
13. Experience of counselling in University setting and experience of caseload management.
14. Ability to triage student needs quickly and appropriately
15. Risk assessment and management skills
16. Able to work evenings
If you feel you are ready for a challenging yet rewarding role and keen to make a difference in delivering advice and helping students maintain their mental well-being while contributing to conveying a positive university experience then apply today!
