2025 sees MoneyGram Haas F1 Team celebrate its tenth season in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. We’re not following the status quo; we’re here to challenge the competition and want you to join us. The first American Formula 1 team to compete since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made a memorable points-scoring debut in 2016 and continues to grow with a clear future direction. We are a racing team – not a corporate machine – with three HQs in Kannapolis (USA), Banbury (UK) and Maranello (Italy). You’ll be involved in many areas of the team with visibility across the business and a clear view of your contribution. We value mutual learning and growth.
General Summary: This position reports to the RTS Chief Mechanic or their designee; it is located in Banbury, UK. Responsible for the assembly and servicing of Haas Formula 1 race car components.
Key Responsibilities
* Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
* Maintain the cleanliness and condition of your work area.
* Follow engineering procedures and protocols pertaining to assembly, operation, and safety.
* Ensure all sub-assembled components are consistently built to the highest standards and correct build specifications.
* Maintain and service pit stop equipment and off-car equipment such as rigs; set up equipment and tooling.
* Take responsibility for the build/service and specifications of the team’s race chassis and heritage chassis, in line with Chief Mechanic expectations.
* Assist and support chosen departments to facilitate turnarounds, engineering projects, car builds and event support.
* Report reliability issues as they occur and seek guidance before undertaking unusual tasks.
* Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
* Assume any other responsibilities delegated by the RTS Chief Mechanic or their designee.
Education and Work Experience
* 2 years of previous experience in a similar mechanical role within Formula 1, World Sports Cars, or F2 is preferred; demonstrable professionalism and a strong record of service in motorsport are advantageous.
* GCSE, High School Diploma, or equivalent required. Further education (Trade School, Apprenticeship or University Degree) is desired.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
* Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
* Comprehensive mechanical understanding gained in Formula 1 motor racing.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and information pertaining to assembly, updates, and modifications.
* Consistently work to the highest standards with attention to detail.
* Basic fabrication and machining skills.
* Collaborative and team-oriented approach.
* Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to help others.
* Communication skills, ability to work under pressure, self-motivation, time management, conflict resolution, adaptability, willingness to learn.
Equipment and Applications
* Solid computer knowledge; preferred experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365 and 3DX.
* Mechanical aptitude.
* Ability to follow complex regulations related to shipment of materials and facility maintenance requirements.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
* Ability to work in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment while maintaining a methodical approach.
* Role may require domestic/international travel and willing to work long and flexible hours, including weekends.
* May require lifting up to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting, and manual dexterity; fast-paced environment with machinery, race cars, rigs, debris, and hazardous fluids. Compliance with Company Health and Safety Policy and relevant safety legislation is required.
