Salary: Grade 7 – £37,280 to £40,777 pro‑rata per year, plus a 5% Market Supplement payment (subject to annual review)
Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer to join our small but busy Regulation Team which deals with Food Hygiene, Public Health, Health and Safety, and Animal Welfare Licensing. Amber Valley is an attractive area in the heart of Derbyshire on the edge of the Peak District National Park and close to the lively cities of Nottingham and Derby. You will need to demonstrate a strong sense of self‑motivation, be a competent communicator and be capable of taking responsibility for your individual work targets.
Responsibilities
* Conduct food hygiene interventions in A to E rated businesses.
* Enforce health and safety regulations in a local government setting.
* Inspect and enforce animal welfare licensing.
* Investigate accidents as required.
* Expand regulatory knowledge across the team’s disciplines.
* Provide a draft or confirmation of your current competency matrix as outlined in the Food Law Code of Practice.
Qualifications
* Certificate of registration with the EHRB / CIEH Register of Practitioners.
* Recent experience conducting food hygiene interventions in A to E rated businesses.
* Experience in health and safety enforcement within a local government setting.
* Desirable experience in animal welfare licensing enforcement and accident investigation.
* Full driving licence.
* Ability to meet the genuine occupational physical fitness requirement, including accessing and inspecting premises, walking on uneven terrain, standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs or ladders in varied weather conditions.
* Right to work authorisation for the UK (no sponsorship available).
