Private Client Tax Senior Manager

Role Overview
This role provides Tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of private client stakeholders, focusing on portfolio management, client service delivery, and team leadership within BDO’s Tax practice.
Responsibilities
* Act as primary client point of contact alongside Partners, responding to requests, providing updates, and maintaining regular contact.
* Take full responsibility for project delivery across the portfolio, ensuring technical accuracy and clear, concise advice.
* Manage the client portfolio, including billing and cash collection within firm criteria.
* Review work prepared by junior staff and liaise with HMRC as required.
* Ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets, monitoring overruns and allocating staff appropriately.
* Adhere to firm quality control procedures, including second partner review.
* Identify risk and technical matters and potential selling opportunities, reporting to Director/Partner.
* Provide overall support to directors and partners on client matters and assist in group management, including recruitment and staff management.
* Participate in management team meetings and contribute to group strategy.
* Train, mentor, appraise and motivate junior staff, providing consistent feedback.
* Recognise and pursue business development opportunities in collaboration with Director/Partner and clients.
* Participate in bids and proposals for new work.
* Represent the firm to clients at senior level, liaising with specialist service groups within BDO.
* Deliver presentations on internal courses and work independently when required.
* Consult with colleagues and leadership on technical and risk matters.
Requirements
* Degree level education and/or CTA and/or ACA qualification, or equivalent.
* Post‑qualified experience with demonstrable expertise in private client tax matters.
* Strong technical ability and ability to provide clear, practical advice.
* Experience supervising and mentoring junior colleagues.
* Capability to challenge current practice, drive improvements and champion change.
* Personal responsibility for decisions and actions, including those of team members.
* Ability to lead projects of limited scale or complexity.
