Senior VMWare Engineer
Hybrid, London based with 2 days a week on site
Role Duration: 3 months (extension likely)
£520 per day inside IR35 - Umbrella only
Active SC security cleared or eligible candidates will be considered
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VMware Engineer to design, deploy, and manage multiple virtual machines (VMs) in a dynamic enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in VMware technologies and a strong understanding of virtualization, networking, and storage integration.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and implement VMware-based infrastructure to support multiple VMs across various environments.
2. Build, configure, and maintain virtual machines using vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
3. Optimize VM performance and resource allocation.
4. Ensure high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery capabilities.
5. Monitor system health and troubleshoot issues related to virtualization.
6. Collaborate with network, storage, and security teams to ensure seamless integration.
7. Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and policies.
8. Stay current with VMware updates, patches, and best practices.
Required Skills:
9. Proven experience (5+ years) in VMware infrastructure design and administration.
10. Expertise in VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and related tools.
11. Strong understanding of virtual networking, storage (SAN/NAS), and backup solutions.
12. Experience with automation tools (e.g., PowerCLI, Ansible) is a plus.
13. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and hybrid environments.
14. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
15. VMware certifications (e.g., VCP, VCAP) are highly desirable.
Nice to Have Skills:
16. Experience with VMware NSX and Horizon.
17. Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
18. Scripting skills for automation and orchestration.
