Health & Safety Manager
Full-Time | Immediate Start Available
We are looking for an H&S Manager who will support the development of a strategy to shape the HSEQ function within the site and geographical area. Working closely with the management team and on‑site SHE Co‑ordinator, you will deliver this strategy and drive a culture of continuous improvement. This is a hands‑on role and requires a candidate who enjoys interacting on the shop floor and can demonstrate the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with the local management team to drive and improve Health & Safety standards across the sites within the area of responsibility, meeting ISO 18001 standards where required.
* Improve environmental / sustainability standards and meet ISO 14001 standards where required.
* Improve quality management systems to meet ISO 9001 standards where required.
* Produce and deliver strategic plans for HSEQ performance, taking into account corporate and customer requirements, which translate into Annual HSEQ plans.
* Actively promote the HSEQ strategy to drive tangible improvement in safety performance and culture.
* Provide a professional service to line management at all levels, ensuring Good Practice in HSEQ is adopted and regularly reviewed, including day‑to‑day management, accident reduction strategies and HSEQ training requirements.
* Carry out statistical analysis and trending to identify issues of concern, assist in the creation, modification and delivery of relevant action plans, and support all HSEQ and Food Safety processes.
* Assist in or lead the investigation and management of incidents (including major incidents), providing advice on root causation, best preventative measures and sharing lessons learned.
* Develop systems that ensure the site safety management system is fit for purpose.
* Mentor and develop HSEQ Champions / SHE Co‑ordinator.
* Use corporate HSEQ IT systems (e.g., Safeguard, One View, Mobile Safety, Webrisk) to support delivery of the above accountabilities.
* Keep abreast of corporate, regulatory and legislative changes and advise management on the implications for the business; undertake a recognised CPD programme.
* Deliver safety training as required.
* Produce management reports as required by the Divisional HSEQ Manager and local line manager.

* NEBOSH Certificate qualified or equivalent.
* Relevant experience of managing HSEQ preferably within a logistics environment.

* Effective presentation and training skills.
* Competent administration and IT skills.

* Ability to prioritise time and combine a range of strategic and hands‑on tasks and manage a diverse workload.
Desired
* Ideally NEBOSH Diploma or working towards.
* Tech IOSH (or working towards).
* Experience of environmental and quality management preferable.
* Specialist knowledge and skills in a specific field (quality, environment, warehouse safety, vehicle safety, food safety, fire safety, noise or ergonomics).
