Overview of the Position
As a Machinist, you will be part of a skilled team making high-quality timber frames and doors for the construction and service industries. This role is permanent and full-time.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Set up and operate a variety of machines within the Production Manufacturing departments (saws, spindles, moulder, etc.).
* Follow production schedules to meet targets.
* Communicate stock requirements for upcoming jobs.
* Ensure quality standards are met and maintained.
* Complete all paperwork in line with Quality Management Systems.
* Assist with improvements and efficiencies in all aspects of production.
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
* Operate required hand tools.
* Perform other duties as required.
The Person/Experience
* Qualified in NVQ Level 2 / 3 in Carpentry / Joinery (preferred).
* 3+ years of experience in a joinery or manufacturing environment (preferred).
* Ability to interpret and read workshop/design drawings.
* Knowledge of timber.
* Ability to set up workpieces and tools.
* Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
* Previous manufacturing experience.
* Attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and good organisational skills.
* High initiative and self-motivation.
* Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
* Must be a team player.
