Job Summary
Please note that these positions are temporary. Salary will be pro-rated for part-time and term-time hours.
Two x 27.5 hours per week positions and 1 x 13.75 hours per week position are available.
The appointment of Support for Learning Assistants is an essential part of the Council’s drive to raise pupil attainment.
You will provide support to children and young people with additional support needs within Lenzie Meadow Primary School.
You will be responsible for the personal care and needs of pupils under the direction of the class/subject teacher. You will help pupils with specific learning activities, follow instructions, and organise their work. When required, you will supervise pupils outside the classroom, e.g., in the playground, corridors, dining area, during PE, and organised school trips.
You should have a pleasant, tolerant manner and a proven ability to establish positive relationships with children and young people. Experience working with children and young people with additional support needs and an interest in their development is essential.
A relevant qualification in childcare is desirable.
PVG / Disclosure Scotland
All roles within East Dunbartonshire Council requiring PVG/Disclosure checks are subject to specific criteria.
If the position is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check before employment confirmation.
Candidates will bear the cost of the check, which will be deducted from the first salary payment. In some cases, deductions may be made in instalments following employment commencement, with approval from the HR & OD Manager. If employment ends before full deduction, the remaining amount will be deducted from the final salary.
This criteria applies to both new applicants and existing employees applying for roles requiring a PVG/Disclosure check.
