Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, well-motivated and reliable Biomedical Scientist to join the Microbiology department at BHR University Hospitals Trust on a fixed term of 6 months to cover maternity leave. The department operates across two sites: Queen's Hospital (QH) in Romford and King George Hospital (KGH) in Goodmayes. The post holder will be based on experience and will work in all areas of the laboratory on a rotational basis, including at the other site (QH or KGH).
Responsibilities
* Perform technical work as required in all sections of the laboratory on a rotational basis under the supervision of senior BMS staff.
* Work across Bacteriology and/or Serology/Molecular pathways as appropriate to the post holder’s experience.
* Contribute to safe, efficient laboratory operations and adherence to procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in Biomedical Science and HCPC registration.
* Successful completion of the IBMS Specialist Portfolio, or equivalent experience if HCPC registration was prior to availability of this qualification.
* Experience in Bacteriology and/or Serology/Molecular techniques.
* Computer literate and able to follow procedures with good written and verbal communication.
* Ability to provide evidence of participation in CPD.
Training and Assessment
The post holder will receive formal training within the Trust and within the Microbiology Department. Performance will be assessed regularly by an appraisal system and laboratory-based competence assessments.
