SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full Time
Teaching Personnel are looking to appoint a committed and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students across KS2, KS3 and KS4 who present with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Pupils may experience challenges such as anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma-related behaviours, attachment difficulties, emotional dysregulation, oppositional behaviour, and barriers to learning linked to social or environmental factors. You will play a key role in helping young people rebuild confidence, regulate their emotions, and engage positively in their education.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to students with SEMH needs.
* Assist teaching staff in delivering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
* Implement strategies to support emotional regulation, de-escalation and behaviour management.
* Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage participation and progress.
* Support pupils in developing social skills, resilience and positive coping strategies.
* Monitor behaviour, record observations and provide feedback to teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams.
* Contribute to individual learning plans, behaviour plans and multi-agency meetings.
* Promote positive attitudes towards learning and help pupils re-engage with education.
* Provide support during transitions between classes or activities.

Requirements
* Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs (school-based or alternative settings such as youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, residential care, or PRUs).
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm, patient and consistent.
* Confidence using de-escalation techniques and supportive behaviour approaches.
* A resilient, compassionate attitude and commitment to making a difference.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel).
* Drivers desirable, but not essential.
