We are looking for a passionate and people‑centred talent acquisition manager to lead our recruitment function and help us attract and welcome exceptional people to Sense — including both employees and volunteers.
You will lead and develop our talent acquisition team, embedding values‑driven, inclusive recruitment practices that ensure every candidate feels welcomed, respected and inspired to join our mission. You’ll build strong partnerships with leaders, shape our employer brand, and deliver proactive attraction strategies that support our continued growth and positive impact across our services and communities.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader who thrives in a fast‑paced, purpose‑led environment and wants to shape a high‑quality experience for candidates and hiring managers. This role is a hybrid role working 2/3 days per week in our Selly Oak, Birmingham office.
What you’ll do
* Lead, coach and inspire the talent acquisition team to deliver exceptional candidate and hiring manager experiences
* Oversee end‑to‑end recruitment for employees and volunteers, ensuring values‑led and safer‑recruitment practices
* Develop attraction and employer brand strategies to reach diverse audiences and promote Sense as an employer and volunteer destination of choice
* Partner with senior leaders and people partners to anticipate workforce needs and support organisational planning and growth
* Build capability across the organisation through inclusive hiring manager training and recruitment best practice guidance
* Manage recruitment channels, campaigns and events, ensuring strong results and return on investment
* Monitor performance through data and insight, reporting on recruitment trends and KPIs
* Oversee and optimise applicant tracking system (ATS)
* Manage relationships with agencies, job boards and external partners
* Support organisation‑wide projects
About you
* Experience leading recruitment in a high‑volume, multi‑site organisation (charity or volunteer recruitment experience desirable)
* Proven team leadership with the ability to coach, motivate and develop colleagues
* Confidence designing and delivering effective attraction and employer brand strategies
* Strong experience using ATS/HRIS and recruitment analytics to make data‑driven decisions
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Organised, resourceful and proactive approach to managing priorities
* Understanding of safer recruitment, compliance and GDPR requirements
