Brightpoint invites applications from qualified individuals to teach primarily first-year college composition and developmental English courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online formats. This is a full-time, nine-month teaching faculty position. Full-time faculty teach the equivalent of 15 credit hours per semester, which may include a combination of day and evening classes, multiple campus locations, and varied course modalities. Responsibilities also include course and program development and assessment, academic advising, and active service on division and college committees.
The successful candidate must be willing to teach a mix of day, evening, weekend, and online classes; demonstrate flexibility in working at any of the College’s locations; and have proven experience with online teaching formats and instructional technologies. Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in English, Composition/Rhetoric, or Writing from an accredited college or university; or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours in English, Composition/Rhetoric, or Writing. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and strong communication skills are required. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is also required.Additional Considerations:
Related education beyond the Master’s level; postsecondary teaching experience, particularly in two-year colleges; experience teaching first-year college composition and developmental English in a two-year college setting; and Writing Center experience.
