Job Title: Team Leader - Children's Residential Care Homes Location: Leyland, Lancashire Salary: £29,600 £50 per sleep-in (approx. 10 per month) Hours: Full-time, 2 on / 4 off rota. Shift pattern includes days, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays, sleep-ins, and lone working. About the Role: We are recruiting on behalf of a growing provider of therapeutic residential care for children and young people aged 7-18. They are looking for experienced Team Leaders to work alongside Deputy and Registered Managers to ensure high-quality, safe, and nurturing care in their homes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with complex needs, challenging behaviours, and trauma backgrounds. Key Responsibilities: Assist Registered and Deputy Managers in the day-to-day operation of the home, including staff supervision, allocation of duties, shift management, recruitment, induction, training, and performance management. Provide cover across homes when required. Ensure a positive, professional, and homely environment that integrates diversity (race, spirituality, gender, disability, sexual orientation). Maintain accurate care records, care plans, risk assessments, anti-bullying plans, and reports. Establish positive relationships with children and young people, assessing needs and implementing individual care plans. Support the administration and orderly running of the home: supplies, maintenance, budgets, financial records, petty cash, and community engagement. Support staff development through coaching, supervision, auditing, and performance feedback. Act immediately upon any safeguarding concerns and follow child protection procedures. Attend child protection conferences, court proceedings, panels, and contribute professional reports as requested. Ensure staff awareness of legal, professional, safeguarding, and administrative practices. Work with children individually and in groups to enhance relationships, personal behaviour, and life skills. Undertake projects or tasks as assigned by management. Deputise for the Deputy Manager as required. Participate in the on-call rota. Experience: Working with children/young people (11-18) in a residential social care setting. Supervisory or team-leading experience. Handling conflict and managing sensitive issues. Motivating and engaging young people individually and in groups. Managing challenging situations appropriately and supporting staff. Knowledge: Child care legislation, government guidance, and best practice. Child safeguarding policies and procedures. Child development and group living complexities. Strategies for managing challenging behaviour (including de-escalation). Education/Qualifications: Level 3 children's social care / youth-related qualification. Relevant management/team-leading training desirable. Skills & Abilities: Staff supervision, allocation of duties, recruitment, deployment, and performance management. Budget and petty cash management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Decision-making and leadership. Work independently and as part of a team. Act as a consistent role model for staff and young people. Other Requirements: Support the organisation's core values. Willingness to work a 24/7 rota including sleep-ins and on-call.
