Unit Senior Sister/Charge Nurse for a 36 bedded Critical Care Unit, working as Unit Co‑ordinator and holding unit management responsibilities.
Facilitate innovative and evidence‑based nursing/midwifery practice through professional leadership and support the clinical team.
Act as a credible and professional role model, encouraging and empowering staff to develop both personally and professionally to reach their maximum potential.
Liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team, facilitating a collaborative approach to patient care. Report directly to the Matron.
Manage the unit, ensuring effective communication with patients, staff and carers using appropriate strategies to overcome barriers to understanding.
Assess and interpret specialist acute and other patient conditions, initiating actions as appropriate. Investigate and respond to accidents, complaints, serious untoward incidents and other significant events, completing root cause analysis on time and ensuring resulting action plans are implemented and evaluated.
Maintain appropriate systems for the safe and timely admission and discharge of patients.
