Main duties of the job
Portering Services provides essential support to all areas of the hospital. The porter will be expected to react to the various challenges within the working environment, and the workload may be increased due to external influences such as environment, weather and patient capacity.
The porter will work as part of a team contributing to the smooth running of the service, providing an efficient and effective response to requests for patient movement, assistance in emergency situations and collection and delivery of samples and medicines, while ensuring that other tasks such as delivery of meal trolleys, linen, goods and mail are carried out in a timely manner.
Many tasks are generally routine but the daily functioning of the service may be unpredictable; therefore a flexible approach and the use of own initiative are essential.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
