NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is a fulltime, permanent post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:00 hrs, Friday 08.00 – 15.30 hrs (includes on-call).

Gartnavel General Hospital Estates Department is currently looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, resilient and hardworking Maintenance Multi Skilled Electrical Technician to join the team. The requirements of the post are to maintain a wide range of building services plant and equipment and where necessary:

1. Provide technical expertise when required including operating and maintaining safe and efficient systems of work for all building services.
2. Provide electrical services to meet the needs of NHS GG&C Health Board, by operating an efficient and effective estates service within the Board's Healthcare Facilities to ensure the safe delivery of patient care and delivering a planned maintenance, repair and installation service which represents quality and value for money at all times.
3. Examine and inspect faults in plant and machinery, establish and recommend how faults may be repaired and discuss with managers/heads of departments regarding the possible effect on wards/theatres/patients.
4. Carry out planned preventative maintenance using work requests and completing all records and documentation required.
5. Work to NHS GG&C Health and Safety and SHTM Policies and Procedures.
6. Undertake minor alterations and modifications to existing services.
7. Organise and manage on a day-to-day basis their workload and priorities. Applicants will participate with on-call duties as part of the on-call team to ensure that emergency repairs occurring out of normal hours are attended to as per the current local agreement.

Recognised and registered EITB or CITB (or equivalent) craft Electrical Apprenticeship or City & Guilds appropriate qualification is essential. Competent tradesperson with extensive relevant experience in electrical building maintenance, some of which should preferably have been acquired in the healthcare sector.

A suitable qualification of an HNC or equivalent in a core subject with additional qualifications as required in the non-core skills is essential.

Designated individuals will require undertaking training to be certified as an Electrical Competent Person undertaking specialist and refresher training as required to undertake the duties of the post.
