Crown Spa Hotel Scarborough blends Victorian charm with modern luxury on the scenic Yorkshire coast. The award-winning spa offers a tranquil escape with various treatments, while the leisure centre features a 40ft indoor pool and a gym. Each of our 116 bedrooms, from standard to executive, are designed for comfort and style, with many boasting breathtaking views of the sea. We are on the search for an enthusiastic, passionate, and dynamic individual to join us as Head Chef.
Our Head Chef will take full responsibility for the operation of the hotels kitchen and also be a senior figure with the hotel. They will maintain a comprehensive understanding and management of kitchen health, safety, and hygiene. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is a must. As well as have the skills to lead, motivate and inspire a team of chefs at all levels.
Key responsibilities include:
Monitor sales figures by menu item, review the profitability and popularity of dishes on all menus and make changes where applicable in conjunction with the General Manager and group Head Chef.
Monitoring and management of kitchen standards. Ensuring compliance with all external and internal requirements.
Payroll control and management, overseeing and creating the kitchen rotas to make sure the department has the adequate number of staff for the needs of the business.
Control of food purchasing and stock management
Accountable for the control of the kitchen including GP's, food cost of sale, ordering and stock control. Responsible for the successful visits of all internal and external auditors, including the Environmental Health Officers and quality assurance
Qualifications
* Proven experience in a supervisory role within a kitchen environment.
* Strong background in food production, preparation, and cooking techniques.
* Demonstrated ability to manage a team effectively while promoting a positive work culture.
* Extensive culinary experience with a passion for creating exceptional dishes.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen.
* Previous experience in the hospitality industry is highly desirable.
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of kitchen operations.
