AtkinsRealis is looking to appoint a new Studio Lead at our Birmingham office.

The Studio Lead will serve as the inspirational head for this studio, part of the broader Midlands, South West, and Wales business, focusing on developing and expanding our architectural services in the region.

Within the Midlands, South West, and Wales, we employ over 100 professionals involved in designing the built environment across sectors like Education, Commercial, Energy, Defence, and Residential. You will collaborate with architects, technologists, interior designers, landscape architects, and surveyors, from graduates to senior leaders. Supporting and mentoring our staff is key to maintaining our leadership in innovative design.


About The Role:

We seek a Studio Lead with strong design skills and a substantial portfolio. The role emphasizes leadership in the local market, requiring experience in project coordination across all phases. We welcome creative and technically proficient designers.

The candidate should be adept at engaging clients and stakeholders, with a good understanding of practice management. Familiarity with the full construction process—from business development to project delivery and commercial management—is essential. You will oversee the Birmingham studio's operations and be responsible for its success.


Responsibilities:

* Manage daily studio operations, including staff development, resource allocation, and financial oversight.
* Lead project management efforts within a multidisciplinary environment, focusing on major opportunities.
* Support business development and bid management in the Birmingham and West Midlands markets.
* Enhance the design culture and capabilities of our teams.
* Develop innovative designs that strengthen our reputation and secure new work through compelling bids.
* Provide design leadership and foster a positive design culture.
* Ensure high-quality project delivery and client satisfaction as Lead Consultant/Design Manager.
* Identify opportunities and support winning bids in government, education, and related sectors, both single and multidisciplinary.


Requirements:

* Qualified Architect with ARB registration.
* Proven experience and familiarity with local government and education clients in Birmingham/West Midlands.
* Strong design skills with technical delivery understanding.
* Leadership experience in managing teams.
* Ability to work under pressure, inspiring and motivating teams.
* Successful track record in preparing bids and tenders.
* Excellent client and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Experience across all project stages as a lead coordinator.
* Knowledge of Autodesk Revit and BIM project management.
* Practical knowledge of SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite or similar.
* Full UK Driving Licence.

Flexibility for travel and location is required to support both local and national projects.

Additional Information:
