Finance Assistant Apprentice

At Aquaterra Energy we specialise in providing engineering solutions and equipment to the global offshore energy industry – helping clients drive efficient and sustainable offshore operations from drilling and field development, to decommissioning, carbon capture and storage, renewable, and hydrogen projects.
We are now offering an exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant Apprentice to join our Norwich team and develop a career in finance within a supportive, collaborative environment.
The Role
As a Finance Assistant Apprentice, you will play a key role in supporting the finance function, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of accounting and finance processes.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Processing supplier invoices accurately within the accounting system and matching to purchase orders
2. Liaising with Project Engineers and suppliers to resolve invoice discrepancies
3. Assisting with the approval and preparation of invoices for monthly payment runs
4. Reconciling supplier accounts and supporting resolution of account queries
5. Responding to supplier queries professionally and maintaining strong working relationships
6. Supporting financial processes including journal postings and bank reconciliations
7. Assisting the wider finance team with ad hoc activities as required
This role provides a fantastic foundation for developing core accounting skills within a dynamic business environment.
About You
We are looking for a motivated individual who is keen to build a career in finance and is either currently studying or looking to start a professional accounting qualification.
Essential:
8. Working towards (or keen to begin) a professional accounting qualification
9. Experience in an office environment
10. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with colleagues and suppliers
11. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Teams
12. Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy
13. Self-motivated with a proactive and positive approach
14. The unfettered right to work in the UK (this is not a sponsored role within our organisation)
Desirable:
15. Experience using accounting software
16. Strong Excel skills and the ability to produce simple reports
17. Analytical mindset and technical aptitude
