Role Overview
Hampshire County Council is seeking an experienced Assistant Team Manager to join their Children's Services department. This is a non-case holding role focused on supporting the Team Manager in the day-to-day operations of the team, ensuring high standards of practice and the effective management of staff and resources.
Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision: Plan and conduct group supervision and contribute to individual supervision, particularly for less experienced Social Workers and Occupational Therapists.

Quality Assurance: Oversee the quality control of written reports, assessments, and court documents. Assist junior staff with report writing and attend court as required.

Case Management Support: Support the team in managing caseloads, including co-working on complex cases and acting as the first point of reference for casework consultation.

Meeting Coordination: Chair and attend statutory meetings, represent the Team Manager in strategy meetings, and ensure the team is briefed with daily case reviews.

Operational Management: Assign tasks to team members and deputise for the Team Manager in their absence.

Compliance: Ensure all casework adheres to child protection policies, statutory guidelines, and departmental health and safety or equality protocols.

Financial Oversight: Monitor the team budget and recommend financial payments for families or young people to the Team Manager.
Requirements
*
Qualified Social Worker (Social Work England registered).
*
Substantial experience in Children’s Services at a Senior or Lead Practitioner level.
*
In-depth knowledge of Child Protection procedures and Statutory duties.
*
Strong leadership, mentoring, and quality assurance skills.
