Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH provision in South Shields. The school supports pupils aged 11–16 who require additional behavioural, emotional, and social support to access education successfully. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in youth work, care, coaching, mentoring, residential support, or education. Key Responsibilities: Providing 1:1 and small group behaviour support Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and self-management strategies Building positive and trusting relationships with young people Assisting teachers in creating an engaging learning environment Supporting behaviour intervention plans Recording pupil progress and behaviour observations Encouraging positive attendance and engagement Working Hours: Monday: 8:30am – 4:00pm Tuesday: 8:30am – 4:00pm Wednesday: 8:30am – 3:45pm Thursday: 8:30am – 4:15pm Friday: 8:30am – 3:15pm Requirements: Previous experience supporting young people preferred Strong communication and relationship-building skills Resilient and calm under pressure Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply and pay for one Full-time applicants only All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
