The post holder will work within the Queen's University Belfast Hub of the Co-Centre for Climate + Biodiversity + Water, one of the most ambitious environmental research programmes in Ireland and the UK, spanning three jurisdictions and three lead institutions: Queen's University Belfast (Northern Ireland), Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), and the University of Reading (Great Britain). The post supports two of the Co-Centre's Cross-Cutting Activities. CCA2 (Policy Response Unit) connects the Co-Centre's science base to decision-makers and government departments, developing evidence products, facilitating researcher-policy maker dialogue, and ensuring that research findings translate into timely, actionable policy guidance. CCA4 (Research Synthesis Working Groups) convenes interdisciplinary expert groups to undertake structured data analysis and synthesis across the Co-Centre's thematic areas of climate, biodiversity and water, generating new knowledge and filling critical evidence gaps. The post holder will act as a connective thread between these two activities, helping to ensure that synthesis products generated within CCA4 provide a robust evidence foundation for the policy outputs of CCA2. They will also make active use of tools and infrastructure developed within Platform 4 (AI and Data Integration), in the Co-Centre, applying AI-assisted evidence synthesis, data harmonisation, and knowledge management workflows to accelerate the generation of high-quality, policy-relevant outputs. The post holder will develop and maintain strong relationships with government partners including DAERA (NI), DEFRA (GB), DAFM (Ireland), EPA (Ireland), NPWS (Ireland), and the Office for Environmental Protection, and will contribute to research and policy engagement activities spanning all three jurisdictions.
