ABOUT DIVISION
This position supports the EMEA Advertising Sales Team, which is tasked with generating ad revenue across the Europe, Middle East & Africa Region. The team collaborates closely with clients & media agencies to sell integrated advertising proposals across the BBC portfolio, including TV, digital, audio, and branded content.
THE ROLE
The Senior Manager Advertising Sales is responsible for delivering profitable sales revenues from their multi-region territory on BBC World News, BBC.com, World Service and TG/GF. The post holder develops strategies and partnerships to grow existing markets, develop new markets, revenue streams and channels to create further opportunities for BBC Advertising. Additionally, the role is responsible for the strategic development of the Luxury and Finance categories across both EMEA regions.
The Senior Manager owns the creation and implementation of the strategic and operational sales plans for Middle East & Africa Region and makes decisions on resource allocation, marketing spend/targeting, resource allocation and focus areas for the business. They have direct responsibility for resolving operational issues in their territory. Additionally, they analyse the business across the territory to identify strategic growth opportunities and makes investment cases to the Head of Ad Sales to procure resources, develop new partnerships and drive the business forward.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
* Manage, within a designated terrority, the sales business to deliver Key Performance Indicators for internal clients and provide regular progress reports.
* With the Head of Ad Sales, create a strategyto ensure the operational sales plan for the territory is implemented to deliver targeted revenue is in line with BBC WW strategy.
* Manage and fulfill the sales targets for BBC News and BBC.com within a defined territory.
* Develop partnerships across the territory and determine the engagement and development strategy for new and existing agencies.
* Main point of contact for BBCA Leadership, GNL commercial team and WW EMEA management team and category champion for internal discussions/workstreams for product opportunities within these categories.
* Lead a project team/workstream to identify new and innovative solutions to achieve revenue from BBC WW brands and assets which meet market demands.
* Identify business growth opportunities and provide business intelligence to the Head of Ad Sales – International Sales in support of plans for increased market share, coverage and penetration.
* Identify trade forums, marketing events, category specialised web and event discussions where BBCA or individual brands can participate/provide thought leadership.
* Develop and deliver compelling pitches and proposals to secure sales.
* With Client Solutions and Branded Content Partnerships team, engage and activate discussion/ dialogue for investment in content, audiences and events specific to the category to achieve Ad sales opportunity for local, regional and global revenue.
* Represent BBCA on leadership forums and knowledge-based events where the BBC has category focus.
* Develop effective relationships with senior executives/Government ministers in key accounts to secure future business and establish the BBC at the centre of their advertising plans.
* Optimise the deployment of the Marketing budget for events, corporate hospitality, etc, and create opportunities to promote the BBC as advertising partner of choice.
* Analyse the blend of in-house and third-party (in-country Reps) sales talent to achieve the best market representation and coverage.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE?
Key Criteria
* Substantial experience in a senior management role – preferably managing managers.
* Significant media sector experience across multiple channels.
* Demonstrable record of leading and operating effectively in a global team.
* Remote management of sales teams based outside the UK.
* Record of managing through significant growth/change.
* Fluency spoken and written English essential – additional languages an advantage.
* Extensive experience in a senior management role
* Comprehensive understanding of territory and markets – cultural, political and business practices.
* Influencing and networking.
* Internal client management.
* Commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
* Complex project management and problem solving skills.
* Interpersonal, communication (written and spoken) and presentation skills.
* Media industry and platforms – knowledge of the full spectrum of trends in the media and buying across all sectors and categories.
