SENDCo (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Coordinator)

Position: SENDCo

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From £175 per day

Start Date: September 2026

Location: Preston


About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional SENDCo to lead our provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated, compassionate and highly skilled practitioner who is passionate about inclusion and ensuring that every student can achieve their full potential.

As SENDCo, you will be a key part of the leadership and pastoral team, driving high‑quality support and shaping the strategic direction of SEND across the school.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead and manage the SEND department, ensuring effective support for all students with additional needs.
* Oversee the identification, assessment and monitoring of students with SEND.
* Coordinate the work of teaching assistants, specialist staff, and external agencies.
* Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and statutory requirements.
* Develop high‑quality intervention programmes and monitor their impact.
* Provide staff training and guidance on inclusive teaching strategies.
* Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals.
* Maintain accurate records, including EHCPs, provision maps and SEND reviews.
* Champion a whole‑school culture of inclusion, wellbeing and equal opportunity.


We Are Looking For Someone Who:

* Is an experienced teacher with the National Award for SENDCo (or willingness to complete it).
* Has strong knowledge of SEND legislation, inclusive practice, and effective intervention strategies.
* Is highly organised, with excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Demonstrates empathy, resilience, and a commitment to supporting vulnerable learners.
* Can inspire colleagues and contribute to a positive, collaborative school culture.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
