At Mencap, we deliver a range of programmes designed to support people with a learning disability and/or autism to move closer to work. We are looking for passionate and self-motivated people to join our bank of Relief Job Coaches based in Barnet, Ealing, Islington, and Kingston Upon Thames. You must be located around one or more of these areas or within a commutable distance.
In this team of bank staff, you will provide individually tailored support for people with learning disabilities and/or autism who are in work, helping them to integrate into the working environment, developing skills and knowledge that will lead to sustained employment. You will support learners with 1:1 Job Coaching within the workplace, working closely with Caseworkers and Tutors to ensure robust assessment processes are followed to set targets and monitor progress.
Relief Job Coach work is on an as-required basis via a relief bank. The work is often short and ad hoc, but there may be opportunities for longer-term work on occasion. Unlike zero-hour contracts, there is no obligation to accept work, but full commitment is appreciated once work is accepted. This role offers flexible working arrangements.
Having a positive attitude is more important than experience. Many individuals may take longer to learn new skills, so patience, reassurance, and encouragement are essential qualities for a Job Coach.
