Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate, motivated Band 6 Theatres Practice Educator to join our expanding perioperative team at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, including working in our brand-new, state-of-the-art operating theatres within the Cancer and Surgical Innovation Centre (CASIC).
Job Responsibilities
* Support and teach staff new to the scrub and circulating roles, plus student nurses and ODPs.
* Act as a visible clinical role model within the operating theatres.
* Deliver and contribute to induction, training and competency programmes.
* Provide hands‑on clinical support to promote safe, evidence‑based practice.
* Work with theatre teams to identify learning needs and develop targeted education.
* Help create and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.
* Contribute to SOPs, competency documents and teaching resources.
* Participate in audit, quality improvement and research to enhance practice.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
* Mentorship/Practice Assessor qualification or equivalent.
* Demonstrate post‑qualification or equivalent experience in nursing studies, equating to sufficient clinical expertise.
* Completed or on pathway for Post Graduate Certificate for Professional Education.
Knowledge and Experience
* Evidence in changing practice and project management.
* CPD – evidence of post‑qualification experience and continuing professional development.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check

Salary
£41,957 to £50,387 a year, including HCAS High Cost Area Supplement.
