Overview
A Vacancy at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. The unit is a 40‑bedded neurorehabilitation team, opened in June 2001 as part of the reconfiguration of neurosciences services across Greater Manchester. The number of beds may increase to 50 in the near future. Patients with a range of neurological impairments – from acquired brain injury to other conditions – receive post‑acute neurorehabilitation from the unit and are transferred here after acute treatment at the Neurosciences Centre at Salford Royal Hospital. The unit also receives transfers from other hospitals and from the community.
Clinical Team
The unit hosts several part‑time Consultant posts, a full‑time specialty doctor, full specialist multidisciplinary teams, clinical fellows, registrars in training, an existing clinical fellow, and a specialist registrar on rotation.
Responsibilities
The appointee will:
* Provide medical support for in‑patients on the Neurorehabilitation Unit.
* Possibly contribute to specialist outpatient clinics.
* Participate in clinical research conducted within the department.
* Develop teaching skills alongside nursing and allied health colleagues.
The approximate distribution of duties is spread over the standard 10 sessions (40‑hour week) shared with existing clinical fellows.
