Overview
This is a full-time substantive post (less than full-time would be considered for the right candidate) for a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine. The postholder will be instrumental in delivering a high-quality clinical service in collaboration with regional Integrated Care Board members and will participate in developing the Respiratory service at Walsall NHS Trust. The post involves a Respiratory and General Internal Medicine on-call rota with other consultant respiratory colleagues. It requires a track record of excellent clinical service delivery, service improvement, teaching, training, and other qualities as identified in the person specification. Annual job planning and annual appraisal as part of the re-validation cycle are required for every doctor.
Programmed Activities: The post is for 10 Programmed Activities per week with an additional PA available subject to negotiation to cover a Saturday morning ward on a 1:8 rota. Participation in the General Medical on-call rota (current frequency 1:18) will incur an additional PA. Total PAs for this role are 11.5. Part-time candidates will be welcomed with a flexible job plan. The Trust and the Respiratory Medicine department offer mentoring for the new Consultant appointment.
The Trust is an integrated NHS provider serving a population of 284,300, with inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital and community services. A new Urgent Emergency Care Centre opened in March 2023, significantly expanding emergency care facilities.
