The company operates in three manufacturing facilities in West Yorkshire and owns several high-speed production lines with the capabilities of producing both still and sparkling water servicing leading retailers such as Morrisons, Lidl, Booker Tesco and Sainsbury through private label and produces the brands Ice
Valley and White Rock exclusively.
Following a period of impressive growth, the business are looking to strengthen their Maintenance offering to support further expansion and development plans and seeking an experienced Multi-skilled Engineer to join their already established team.
Summary:
The Production Operative plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of production lines at Shepley Spring Ltd. Working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for operating production machinery, monitoring product quality, packing and labelling finished goods, and supporting material handling where required. This role is key to maintaining high standards of food safety, quality, and efficiency, ensuring production targets are consistently achieved while following strict health and safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Support:
* Assist in the operation of production machinery and equipment in line with standard operating procedures.
* Monitor production lines for quality control, ensuring products meet food safety and quality standards.
* Perform basic troubleshooting and adjustments on machinery to ensure efficient production.
* Pack, label, and prepare finished goods for storage or shipment, ensuring accuracy in quantities and labelling.
* Carry out quality checks and maintain records of production output.
Health and Safety Compliance:
* Ensure safe working practices in the production area and while operating the FLT, adhering to all relevant health and safety and food safety regulations.
* Maintain a clean and organized working environment, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety protocols (e.g., HACCP).
* Ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times, and that equipment is used correctly.
* Follow lockout/tagout procedures when performing maintenance or repairs on machinery.
Team Collaboration and Communication:
* Work closely with other production operatives, machine operators, and supervisors to ensure the production process runs smoothly and efficiently.
* Communicate effectively with the production team to ensure any production issues are addressed promptly.
* Report any issues with production equipment, materials, or safety concerns to the supervisor or relevant team.
General Maintenance and Housekeeping:
* Assist with general housekeeping duties, including cleaning production areas, equipment, and storage areas.
* Follow food safety and hygiene procedures to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the production environment.
* Participate in routine cleaning and maintenance tasks in accordance with facility protocols.
* Previous experience working night shifts
* Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment (food or beverage manufacturing preferred).
* Basic understanding of food safety, hygiene, and quality control processes.
* Ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting and moving materials.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet production targets.
* Good teamwork and communication skills.
* Ability to follow instructions and adhere to company policies and procedures.
* Experience operating production machinery or automated lines.
* Awareness of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and Lean Manufacturing principles.
* Basic IT skills, including experience using Excel for production records.
* Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) licence (advantageous but not essential).
Working Hours: 48 hours
