Position Overview
Reporting to the Plant Manager and based in Sunderland, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for handling all elements at the Sunderland site from an Engineering perspective, manufacturing high volume Automotive Seating and Foams.
Main Responsibilities :
1. Effectively manage and lead the Engineering team in a complex / fast paced JIT environment supplying prestigious OEM’s.
2. Serve as the key Engineering lead for the plant for Industrial, Process and Tooling.
3. Ensure all critical chemical processes within the Foam Plant specifically are met and maintain a repeatable output.
4. Manage all onsite tooling including maintenance, upkeep, and development. Have a continuous improvement approach to drive efficiency.
5. Where applicable, set out clear processes for all operators onsite from a standardized work perspective.
6. Drive the team to achieve and exceed all KPI’s set out by the business, including Safety, Quality, Downtime and Scrap. Create focused plans to deliver and report improvements.
7. Attend all Plant reviews both locally and globally to support the business in providing best in class product.
8. Liaise with all Plant functions to support and drive all key metrics to maximize efficiency and profits.
9. Manage all escalations in the Plant Engineering team both internally and externally.
10. Have a pragmatic and structured approach to identifying and delivering engineering-based solutions within the plant.
11. Conduct Performance Reviews for all team members on a regular cadence driving employee engagement and development
12. Lead and Inspire the Engineering team to become a high performing dynamic team which includes a deliverable succession infrastructure including personal and team development.
13. Ensure successful new product launches in both plants.
14. Support the implementation and ongoing application of procedures and processes instigated the business. Support all best practices shared globally.
15. Ensure IATF16949 is maintained as appropriate.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
16. Minimum 3+ years in Senior Management role in Engineering discipline, and 5 years in the automotive industry.
17. NVQ Level 5 or equivalent in Manufacturing, Engineering/Chemical based qualification.
18. HND in Manufacturing Engineering/Chemical based OR qualified through experience.
19. Experience in the Chemical industry sector is preferred.
20. Management skills with ability to drive adherence to standards, processes, and Lear core values.
21. Experience of direct customer contact.
22. Experience of Lean tools and applications.
23. People development and leadership experience.
24. Understanding of Industrial Quality Systems and tools
