Role: NPD Assistant
Reports to: NPD Lead
Location: David Berrymans Unit B, New Orchard Estate, Airport Executive Park, Luton LU2 9NY
About the Role:
As an NPD Assistant you will Create and develop new and existing products for customers in support of the company’s sales strategy, ensuring only quality, safe and legal products are created and supplied. The NPD Assistant is responsible for driving innovation for new and existing product and supporting the company’s growth.
Key Accountabilities and Tasks:
1. New product development, create formulations for customers and potential customers
2. Improve existing products, working to raw materials cost guidelines
3. Build knowledge of relevant technologies and new ingredients to offer customers new solutions
4. Product matching- for example of existing market products
5. Create and despatch traded and NPD sample requests to customers
6. Order samples and specifications from suppliers
7. Preference testing
8. Preparing paperwork for the factory
9. Creating provisional specifications for customers
10. Customer liaison as appropriate including customer visits
11. Order samples and specifications from suppliers
Key Skills & Experience
12. Food Technology degree or equivalent
13. Numerate and literate with excellent communication skills
14. Able to deliver clear and concise ideas to both colleagues and customers
15. Effective project management and planning skills
16. Proactive and organised with strong time management, meticulous attention to details and a proven ability to multitask
17. Able to work well under pressure and deliver to strict deadlines
18. Able to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision and thrive both on own initiative and as part of a team
19. IT literate- familiar with Microsoft programmes
20. Any other duties commensurate with the role and within the role capability
