I. Purpose of the Role
This role has been created as a learning role at a junior level. As the role progresses, the purpose is to oversee the technical requirements across both Newcastle plants; support the Production team, the Quality team and the Senior Technical Process Engineer in day-to-day operations. Specific emphasis is placed on technical aspects involved with the production of wire rope products and a continuous improvement mindset.
Role: Junior Process Engineer
Salary: £32,000 - £33,000 Depending upon the interview and experience.
II. Roles and Responsibilities
* Ensure that the Newcastle plants meet both internal and external customer expectations by establishing and maintaining a right first time manufacturing process and culture.
* Work with the Senior Technical Process Engineer to ensure technical aspects are completed across the Newcastle plants.
* Aid the Senior Technical Process Engineer in investigating internal failures/issues and recommend corrective actions, working with relevant teams.
* Collaborate with the Production team on plant capacity and identify constraints to eliminate them.
* Coordinate the flow of Red Alert orders to meet special requirements and provide reports/feedback.
* Carry out daily audits on manufacturing topics to ensure good techniques are used.
* Perform problem solving and analysis, conduct Root Cause Analysis, utilize rope knowledge, and ensure action closure with relevant departments.
* Assist the Senior Technical Process Engineer in customer complaints investigations.
* Maintain an effective continuous improvement programme targeting improved quality and efficiencies through standardisation and waste elimination.
* Assist in the acceptance of new rope designs, undertaking technical reviews to ensure plant capability to manufacture the product.
* Review orders for Newcastle plants, capture technical information, and embed it into works documentation.
* Contribute to technical reviews of works documentation to capture all design features of the product.
* Work toward a zero-accident culture by enforcing Health & Safety policies and procedures.
* From time to time, work at other Bridon sites as required.
III. Skills & Competencies Required
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (ideal but not essential).
* IOSH Managing Safely / Lean manufacturing training (ideal but not essential).
* Full driving license (ideal but not essential).
* Experience with MS Office and other IT software (ideal but not essential).
* Experience with presentations to peers and Supervisors (ideal but not essential).
* Experience of working within lean manufacturing methodologies.
* Experience in engaging communication within a team.
* Experience of managing within strict H&S & Quality parameters & KPIs (ideal but not essential).
