Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and hardworking nurses to join our exciting research team within the Division of Medicine and Integrated Care. This post offers an ideal opportunity for individuals who wish to further develop their nursing career within the dynamic area of clinical research. This post is for a diabetes continuous monitoring device study being conducting within the ICU.

In return, we offer a great opportunity to gain research experience within one of the most dynamic and well-respected Academic Health Science Centres in the UK. The successful candidate will join a sub-team of research nurses who are currently supporting a wide range of medical research portfolios across several specialties, including Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Dermatology, Rheumatology, Dementia, and Endocrine studies.

The role involves providing support for studies across three Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust sites, based across St Marys Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital and Charring Cross Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating multiple studies, study setup, participant recruitment into clinical trials, and data collection.

Previous research experience is essential.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 18th December.

Main duties of the job

1. As a Band 6 Clinical Research Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in research. This will involve the recruitment, education, and monitoring of research participants, as well as the collection and documentation of accurate data.
2. You will work collaboratively with the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team in managing your own caseload of research patients.
3. You will act as a knowledgeable resource for staff, researchers, research participants, and patients, alongside maintaining a working knowledge of, and compliance with, local, national, and international research regulations.
4. You will contribute to the development of local policies related to all aspects of the research process and support the training and supervision of staff and researchers. Additionally, you will contribute to nurse-led research.

Essential criteria

5. Research experience at band 5/6 nurse
6. For specialist areas able to demonstrate specialist knowledge of patient group.
7. Experience of supervision of junior staff, SLICE or equivalent experience Knowledge of research and audit. Evidence of continuing professional development.

Desirable criteria

8. Diabetes and endocrinology nursing experience.
9. Experience of coordinating and managing clinical trials for investigational medicinal products and or medical devices
10. ICU nursing experience

Skills

11. Leadership skills
12. Proven teaching and assessing skills
13. Excellent level of English language demonstrated through effective written skills
