Overview
This one‑year industrial placement offers real responsibility, support from experienced actuaries, and a pathway to graduate programmes in 2027. It is ideal for students in their penultimate year who want to explore actuarial work while gaining valuable industry experience.
Responsibilities
* Actuarial reserving team – calculate the expected level of future claims, analyse trends and experience against expectations, communicate business insight and estimate capital requirements.
* Actuarial pricing team – set prices for insurance policies by analysing which risk characteristics drive claims costs, assess profitability, improve customer segmentation and develop market‑leading pricing technology.
* Work alongside qualified actuaries, attend internal actuarial training, and gain insight into other actuarial functions.
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in a STEM subject – predicted.
* Minimum C/4 grade in both English and Maths at GCSE level (or equivalent).
* Minimum A grade in Maths A‑level.
* At least 128 UCAS points from 3 A‑Level subjects (or equivalent).
* Strong mathematical and analytical skills, and a high level of numerical aptitude.
* Ability to learn new technical skills, work comfortably with large volumes of data, and have an eye for detail.
* Excellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong interest in pursuing an actuarial career after graduation, with an expectation of maintaining office performance.
* Hybrid workforce – you must be within commutable distance to the assigned office workplace.
* Full right to work and reside in the UK; no sponsorship accepted; must have resided in the UK for a minimum of three consecutive years.
