Engineering Manager - Treatment

About The Division

The Water Utilities Division is Mott MacDonald’s centre of excellence for UK and Ireland water and wastewater challenges. It delivers safe water supplies, prevents urban flooding and improves river health through advisory services, feasibility studies, design and detailed delivery.


Overview of the Role

You will lead the delivery of our non‑infra programme of works within the Thames Water Consultancy Framework, building on existing enabling frameworks and collaborating with technical discipline leads to ensure high technical delivery performance and client satisfaction.


Responsibilities

* Establish the right structure and people to meet technical demands.
* Develop systems and processes that deliver project outcomes in line with client and framework delivery, our internal business management system and governance procedures.
* Foster a culture that drives innovation, challenges the norm and continuously improves delivery efficiency.
* Maintain a detailed understanding of the client’s business plan objectives and engage continuously to keep an up‑to‑date technical challenge view.


Candidate Specification

Essential

* Chartered engineer with a relevant technical degree.
* Track record of engineering technical leadership.
* Significant experience in feasibility and outline design of treatment solutions within the UK water sector.
* Aptitude for innovation and driving efficiency.
* Experience mentoring people and teams.
* Ability to support bids, fee proposals or service offers.
* Strong communication skills and effective collaboration across multi‑disciplinary teams and client teams.
* Willingness to travel regularly to Thames Water offices.

Desirable

* Strong commercial awareness and delivery of cost‑effective solutions within time and cost constraints.
* Understanding of key water sector treatment and sustainability needs.
* Understanding of drivers for water and wastewater treatment investment in England and Wales.
* Excellent technical report writing skills in concise English.
