ABOUT THE ROLE
Prospero Teaching is looking for a qualified ESOL Tutor to deliver personalised, one-to-one English language support to young learners who are Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children. This role is ideal for an experienced ESOL teacher who wants to make a meaningful difference by providing engaging, supportive sessions that help students improve their English, rebuild their confidence, and re-engage with learning.
These students have English as an additional language and will have missed significant schooling. You’ll plan and deliver bespoke lessons that meet their language needs while fostering a positive, structured learning experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Deliver tailored ESOL sessions on a 1:1 basis within the student’s home or out in the community (library or learning hub)
2. Create engaging lesson plans that support language acquisition and confidence-building
3. Track student progress and adapt teaching methods as needed
4. Work closely with the Prospero Teaching team to ensure effective support is in place
ROLE DETAILS
5. Location: Barnet and surrounding areas
6. Hours: Flexible – from 1 to 2 hours per session; part-time and full-time options available
7. Pay rate: Up to £30 per hour
REQUIREMENTS
8. Recognised ESOL teaching qualification ( CELTA, TESOL, or equivalent)
9. Minimum 6 months experience teaching ESOL in a UK setting
10. Confident working independently and managing personalised learning plans
11. A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
12. Right to work in the UK
