Clinical Support Worker – NHS Ayrshire & Arran
This permanent post is based within the Blood Sciences departments at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. Applicants will support the professional clinical laboratory service primarily in Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratories, with occasional support in other areas.

Responsibilities
* Receive and label specimens and distribute to the relevant department.
* Carry out preparatory procedures on samples.
* Perform basic operation of laboratory equipment, including regular cleaning.
* Input patient details into the lab computing system accurately.
* Input stock orders into the finance computer system and perform general stock keeping duties.
* Handle enquiries from service users and members of the public.
* Carry out transfusion blood stock management.
* Carry out appropriate blood component/product checks.
Qualifications
* Standard Grade / National 4/5 in English and a Science subject.
* Previous experience of working in a hospital laboratory is desirable.
* Good keyboard skills, ability to work accurately under pressure, flexible approach to work.
Working Hours
The lab operates a 24‑hour service. Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:45 AM–9:00 PM. Work may be required on weekends and out of hours as service needs dictate.
