Site Engineer Rail / Civil Engineering Location: Derby/Nottingham (East Midlands) Region: Eastern An exciting opportunity for an experienced Site Engineer, with expertise in heavy civils, bridges, and structures, to join our team in the Eastern region. The role supports the delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects related to MMLE (Midland Mainline Electrification), including bridge reconstructions, demolitions, drainage, minor civils, and other civil engineering works as required by the region. Business Unit Our busy and fast-paced business unit is involved in a range of civil engineering projects linked to Network Rail infrastructure, such as bridge refurbishment and renewal, embankments, and station works. The team manages multi-disciplinary rail civils projects across the CP6 LNE route, varying in scale and complexity, often presenting technical challenges. Current contracts within the CP6 infrastructure projects framework include schemes such as bridge reconstruction/replacement, upgrades, refurbishments, station works (including platforms, Access for All schemes, and footbridge installations), and platform extensions. The Role As a Site Engineer, you will report to the Project Manager or Site Agent and will be responsible for the weekly planning and delivery of site-based activities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Ensuring Site Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality standards are maintained for all activities Reviewing and interpreting project drawings and specifications for site-based engineering work Setting out and surveying on site Ensuring site engineering activities are carried out professionally, systematically, and accurately Supervising site works, including managing labour, plant, and subcontractors Maintaining accurate records, including daily diaries of site activities Estimating and ordering materials Planning daily and weekly site activities, assisting with the production of Risk Assessments, Work Package Plans, Inspection Test Plans, and related documentation Managing subcontractors and site engineers as required Requirements To succeed in this role, you will have previous experience as a Site Engineer with setting-out expertise, ideally within civil engineering projects or multi-disciplinary projects in the rail sector.
