The full-time starting salary is normally £44,131 per annum, with progression available in post to £51,182 per annum.

Grade: G

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

BCU have an exciting opportunity for an experienced secondary Maths specialist to join us as a Teaching Fellow to support our Secondary PGCE Maths Education team. It is an essential requirement that you must be a secondary Maths specialist, having worked in secondary education teaching Maths through delivering the national curriculum. You must be able to evidence that you are a sound practitioner, highly motivated, well-organised and passionate about delivering exceptional evidence-based teaching. You should also have mentored Maths trainees on an ITE PGCE course.

We have developed a shared vision for educational excellence with our partner schools and our courses reflect our commitment to partnership working and training the next generation of secondary Maths teachers.

The work involves teaching on ITE Postgraduate route and providing professional development. You will work closely with colleagues in partner schools, when out observing trainees in their teaching practice, and you will establish and maintain links. Essential to your role is providing pastoral support to enable BCU PGCE students to thrive and become independent professionals who are proud to be part of Birmingham City University. Other duties fall in this role, such as administration activities and you will be expected to attend open days and Get into Teaching events.

You will also have opportunities to join staff for further development, sharing and CPD. You must hold a first degree in Maths and hold QTS. Experience of teaching in Secondary schools is essential and prior experience of working in Initial Teacher Training or mentoring trainees on ITE courses is desirable.
