An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Staff Nurses to join our ward team at the Surgical Day Unit, within Hexham General Hospital, on either a full-time or part-time basis. The unit is a dynamic, fast-paced department managing a variety of specialties. The unit is open between the hours of 07:30 to 20:00.
The successful applicant will possess excellent communication skills, team working skills, and some knowledge of surgical procedures to join our busy unit. We will support your development in the post through personal development planning, excellent training opportunities, and will support you to broaden your experience, skills, and knowledge.
Main duties of the job:
* To provide nursing care to a caseload of patients and to provide verbal and written handovers to nursing colleagues and the multi-disciplinary team.
* To ensure that individualized programmes of care are formulated and carried out fully for each patient on the ward/department when responsible.
* To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the Ward Manager.
* To be responsible for the organizing and co-ordination of nursing services in the ward/department in the absence of senior staff.
* To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
* To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* 1st Level live NMC registered Nurse
* Evidence of qualification to undertake the supervision, teaching, and assessing of students.
* Evidence of ongoing practice development
* A valid driving licence and either a car owner able to use the car for work purposes or have a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role.
Desirable:
* Post Registration qualification in specialty
* Recognized teaching qualification
* Recognized post-graduate theatre/anaesthetic qualification
* Diploma/degree in nursing/or health-related topic
