You can only achieve that by having dedicated people with a curious mind. Curiosity is the spark behind great ideas. And great ideas drive progress.
As a member of our team, you thrive in a truly diverse and inclusive workplace based on care and empowerment. You are here to make a difference. Constantly building bridges to the future with sustainable solutions that have an impact on our planet’s most urgent problems. Making the world a better place. Every day.
About the job
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our projects team based in Keele, UK. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for all electrical aspects on multiple customer projects with varied engineering requirements and deliverables. The projects will vary in value and complexity but will focus on Alfa Laval core equipment, particularly dewatering/thickening equipment for wastewater treatment, as well as other food and water applications.
You will be responsible for progressing the electrical elements of projects from order/contract placement through design, purchasing, manufacture, installation, and commissioning. You will also work on customer sites across the UK during commissioning, performing wiring modifications and helping establish communications between our equipment and the customer's PLC. You will coordinate with internal teams and provide updates to the Project Manager. Additionally, you will support during the bid phase to ensure customer specifications and constraints are met or deviations are highlighted.
You will produce high-standard electrical documentation, including equipment schedules, control philosophies, control panel documentation, cable schedules, datasheets, and support technical documentation such as O&Ms and risk assessments. You will review supplier documentation for compliance with customer specifications and operational functionality.
The role is primarily office-based, with opportunities to work from home after onboarding. Site visits and Factory Acceptance Tests will be required, necessitating a full driving license.
Who are you
You are an experienced Electrical Engineer with solid experience in a similar role. You understand engineering fundamentals, can read and modify electrical schematics, and have good knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
You are autonomous, motivated, customer-focused, and able to manage time, cost, and resources effectively. You are self-reliant in prioritizing and completing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
You possess excellent communication skills, can network internally, and build relationships to fulfill customer queries. You are confident in communicating with customers in person or via calls. You are commercially aware in project environments and can provide concise updates to peers and management. You are organized, proactive, and driven to complete tasks.
What you know
You hold an HNC/HND or degree in electrical engineering, with significant experience in related roles. You understand UK standards, WIMES specifications, and ATEX/DSEAR regulations.
You have knowledge of motors, VFDs, pumps, flow meters, sensors, control valves, and a basic understanding of PLC/HMI/SCADA systems and communication protocols.
Experience with Alfa Laval products, especially in separation, dewatering, or thickening, is desirable but not essential. You should have good IT skills and an understanding of policies and procedures.
What’s in it for you
You will work in an international B2B environment with opportunities for global networking and collaboration. You will be part of a supportive team committed to achieving common goals.
You will contribute to a company known for high-efficiency, energy-saving technology that makes a positive impact on sustainability.
The culture at Alfa Laval is open, informal, and supportive. We value diversity and equal opportunities and encourage personal development.
Benefits include a comprehensive onboarding, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, health cash plans, life assurance, cycle-to-work scheme, and more.
We value diversity, inclusion, and equity. We use Pymetrics assessments during recruitment, and applicants will be invited to participate.
This position remains open until a suitable candidate is found.
