Job summary
Powys Children & Young People's Health Services are recruiting a new, blended senior nursing role within a team transforming care delivery for Children & Young People in Powys.
The Lead Advanced Nurse Practitioner for C&YP combines advanced clinical practice with senior leadership, leveraging the benefits of the Enhanced, Advanced, and Consultant practice framework.
This role works across health and social care boundaries, ensuring holistic care for children and young people with both short-term and long-term health needs. It is approximately 50% clinical and 50% leadership, strategy, training, and research. Responsibilities include line management, clinical governance, and developing new roles and pathways based on assessed needs.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced clinical skills, strategic leadership, innovative practice, and people management. An independent non-medical prescriber status is required; annex 21 consideration may be given for suitable candidates.
Main duties of the job
* Managing a clinical caseload of children and young people with complex needs in the community.
* Leading nurse-led clinics, performing assessments, ordering tests, and interpreting results.
* Supporting safe prescribing as an independent non-medical prescriber.
* Coordinating care for children and young people requiring commissioned services, ensuring seamless transitions, including between children and adult services.
* Leading clinical audits and developing initiatives to improve pathways using PROMS/PREMS.
* Driving service development and transformation, liaising with leadership and organizational colleagues.
* Developing sustainable staffing models, line managing core practitioner teams, and ensuring safe systems of care.
